Install Skype On Windows 8.1
If you run Windows 8 on your PC, you have the option to download the Skype application. However, if you do not want to use the app you can also download the desktop version that the previous Windows systems use.
Step 1: You'll need to go to the Skype website and hit the “Downloads” link at the top of the page. Or you can go directly to the page by clicking here. On this screen, you should see a green button that says, “Download Skype for Windows Desktop” –click on this. This should save the installation file to your computer and in your Downloads folder. Go into the folder and double click to run the file.
Step 2: The Skype window will pop up onto your screen. Select your language from the drop down menu and then click the button on the bottom right that says “I agree –next.”
Step 3: From there Skype will ask you if you want to use the “Click to Call” function. If you do, check the box and click continue at the bottom of the screen. If you don’t, ignore the box and click continue.
Step 4: Next you’ll be asked to read the Services Agreement and Privacy Policy. Do so and then click continue.
Step 5: Now Skype will ask you if you want to use Bing as your default search engine. If you do, check the appropriate box. If you don’t then make sure that the box is unchecked, and click continue.
Step 6: Now the installation process will begin. When it is down installing, you will have the option to sign in with your Skype username or your Microsoft account. Pick whichever you’d like and log in. From there, you’re good to go.
